Senior Database Administrator—SQL DBA

The senior database administrator is responsible for systems/database management, administration, maintenance and support including overseeing and managing all database and system resources.
Position Responsibilities and Essential Duties:
Handle large SQL Server databases and Oracle
Perform Oracle installation/configuration/troubleshooting
Maintain and support information systems infrastructure
Ensure data integrity and system performance for all of our databases
Perform critical responsibilities such as Installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting SQL Server databases
Support database management and provide help for upgrade and migration of databases to new releases
Apply patches and upgrades for SQL Server
Get involved in capacity planning
Perform and verify data backup/restore strategies and make recommendations for resolution
Maintain database and general system design documentation
Advise and guide systems development team members on database/file design, performance monitoring and application/maintenance design and tuning
Optimize resource utilization
Troubleshoot the incidents and problems reported on the above servers
Work with IT team members to ensure the database integrity, high availability and security
Provide the root cause analysis on the major incidents/problems
Provide design applications and reports as needed for various departments
Education/Experience:
Strong knowledge of SQL 2000/2005 production support
Three to five years in SQL Server administration on Windows 2000 and 2003 operating systems
Experience in backup and recovery, and tuning of Oracle RDBMS in very large (VLDB) production environments
Experience in VB Scripting and java scripting
Advanced SQL Server skills including log shipping, bi-directional replication and SQL clustering
Experience in SQL/windows hardening procedures
Experience in DTS packages
Experience on Windows 2000/2003 enterprise servers
Working knowledge on any of monitoring tools like MOM, NetIQ, HPOV
MCSE certification preferred
Experience in managing multiple projects/teams
Excellent communication and team-building skills
Excellent communication skills with ability to work with executive management and translate business requirements into technical implementations
